"Says "The Untouchables"
producer Tim Iacofano:
"I remember the first
audition, there was an
earnestness, an inner
attractiveness that I
saw in Tom, plus a
toughness and a human
quality. So we brought
him back [to auditon]
for Ness and I practically
fell out of my seat. I
said this man is Eliot
Ness. He's from Chicago,
he's about the right age
Ness was when he did this,
and he can play the full
range of emotions that his
character has to play."
Hugh Hart, Chicago Tribune
